IT has been a busy weekend for the emergency services with a number of road traffic collisions taking place across the county.

In the early hours of Saturday morning a car collided with a tree in Old Main Road, Haynes, Church End. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene just before 1am where two women had been injured. One woman was put onto a spinal board by the fire and ambulance services and they were both taken to Bedford South Wing Hospital by ambulance.

Only a matter of hours later at 9am and fire crews were called to Odell Road in Sharnbrook to another collision involving one female who had received non-life threatening injuries who was also taken to Bedford South Wing Hospital by the ambulance service.

On Sunday morning there were a further two incidents, firstly a crash between a car and a tree in Brickhill Drive, Bedford at half past midnight where one person was released from the vehicle and conveyed to hospital and finally at around 2.47am a car was involved in a crash along Ampthill Road in Bedford, however no persons were trapped in the incident and the fire service stayed only to make the vehicle safe.
