Hatters hope Hungary won't come back to bite them

Kevin Watson is fearful of more additions to the club's injury list after two Luton Town players received England call-ups.

Callum Reynolds and Rossi Jarvis have been selected by England C manager Paul Fairclough in his 16-man squad to face Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday September 15.

Midfielder Jarvis, who has been capped eight times by England U19, suffered with injuries last season and teenager Reynolds is relatively new to first team action so the assistant manager is concerned about burn-out to two key players.

"I'm delighted for the boys who have been called up, but the way our injuries are at the moment it probably tells you they are going to go away and come back injured," said Watson before the 0-0 draw with Kettering Town.

"It's and honour and fantastic for them and the club. At this moment in time it is probably something we could do without.

"They don't need an extra game because they're young boys. Rossi had injury problems last year and Callum has probably never played as many games on the trot in his career, so it will affect them if they keep playing."

If the Town duo impress there is the prospect of selection for the International Challenge Trophy qualifiers in the autumn which could further interfere with club duty.

"It's another thing we could probably do without but there is plenty of time from now until then," said Watson. "Mick will have to have a look at it and decide how the land lies with that."

The England C squad contains 12 new call-ups as Fairclough begins the process of rebuilding the U23 squad in preparation for the forthcoming qualifiers.

Fairclough said: "This is an ideal opportunity for players to stake a claim before the qualifying games begin.

"There are other players still eligible that we are aware of but it is important to look at others to see how the adapt to international football and the rigours that go with it."

Does an England call up supercede their obligations to the home team???.
