How to Look Good for the Camera

Pretty as a picture – how to look good for the camera

brideHave you ever wondered how celebrities always manage to look so picture perfect as they swan down the red carpet?

Yes, the vast entourage of professional help that panders to their every need has more than a little to do with it.

But the savvy celeb has also learnt how to position him or herself to get the very best out of every photo opportunity.

So for the image aware bride-to-be, here are a few tips of the trade:

1: It’s important to learn the best angles for you and features of your hair and dress to ensure that you always present them to the camera.

2: To create the illusion of a slimmer you, turn partially sideways to the camera, planting one foot in front of the other. Point you toe to the camera and place your weight on your back foot.

3: Dip your head forward slightly to minimize the appearance of a double chin.

4: Hold your arms away from your body slightly to keep the arm from flattening out and appearing wider than it actually is.

5: Roll your shoulders back, lift your chest and gently pull your stomach in – but not too far or you’ll make your ribs protrude.

6: The ‘look away trick’ is simple and very effective but you’ll need to prime your photographer beforehand. Just look away from the camera and then turn towards it breaking into a smile just before the camera clicks. Your smile will appear natural even at the end of the day.

7: Of course, practise makes perfect so keep rehearsing those poses in the comfort of your own home so that they become second nature in front of the camera.
