New Sixth Form College

Wootton Academy Trust is delighted to announce that it will be leading two Sixth Form Colleges from September 2013. Alongside its existing Sixth Form - with its specialist facilities in the arts – the Trust is opening a brand new, state of the art, Sixth Form, called Kimberley College, which will specialise in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The two sixth forms will work closely together to provide the very best learning opportunities for Bedfordshire’s young people, as well as those in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire.

Senior Principal, Tony Withell commented, “2013 will be a landmark year for Wootton Academy Trust which has been recognised by national government for the quality outcomes it achieves at Wootton Upper School. Kimberley College will enable us to build on that success.”

“We are now very confident that our new Sixth Form College will be located in Stewartby, which means that students from Bedford, Bletchley and Milton Keynes, as well as the villages in between these areas, will be able to get to the new college easily by train.” The Trust intends to make a formal announcement as to the precise location of Kimberley College to current Wootton Upper School students and their parents in January.

The Trust is now inviting applications for both of its Sixth Forms. We are holding an Information Evening on Wednesday 16th January at 7:30 p.m. at Wootton Upper School where we look forward to meeting prospective students and their parents.  You will be able to find out much more and meet key staff of both colleges. There will be another opportunity for you to meet key staff on Saturday 26th January between 10:00 – 12:30, also at Wootton Upper School.

If you cannot make either of these events but are interested in learning more please contact Jackie Brinicombe, our Sixth Form Administrator on jbrinicombe@wootton.beds.sch.uk

We are working with a range of universities from Harvard to Cambridge, as well as the University of Bedfordshire and Cranfield University, to provide a new and vibrant approach to learning which will enable students to flourish in a university-style environment.

We are also extremely fortunate to have so many local and national industries supporting this new approach to teaching and learning in STEM - ranging from Aston Martin and Nissan to National Grid and Lockheed Martin as well as local companies such as Charles Wells, ARA, Swiss precision Diagnostics and many others.
