Rugby union: Ampthill ready for Championship Cup semi after claiming Aviva Premiership scalp

Ampthill Under-15s take on Amersham and Chiltern at Dillingham Park on Sundayin the semi-final of the Champions Cup, a competition featuring the top youth teams in the country.

Dan Lavery’s side claimed the notable scalp of Worcester in the last round, beating the Midlands side who feature players in the Aviva Premiership club’s academy 29-13. The winner of today’s game, which kicks off at midday, will meet Havant in the final after they beat London Irish.

Lavery had a tough choice choosing the squad, demonstrated by the fact the five players (Michael Batty, Freddy Maxwell, Jake Roberts, Thomas Belt, Miles Everitt) who have not made the squad all have representative honours. However, Ben Slawinski, the fly-half, will be missing for Ampthill has he injured his knee playing for Bedford School on Friday.
