Gary MacKenzie faces a battle to regain his Dons place

Gary MacKenzie faces a battle to get back into the Dons line-up after boss Karl Robinson praised the central defensive pairing of Shaun Williams and Mathias Kouo-Doumbe.

Scot MacKenzie has sat out the last two games as part of a four match ban picked up after his red card against Charlton, and the Williams and Doumbe combination has impressed in his absence with solid performances against Oldham and Bury.

Doumbe certainly made the most of his chance to start with a solid showing at the back and an excellent goal at the other end against Oldham.

MacKenzie's dismissal at The Valley occurred after he clashed with Charlton striker Yann Kermorgant and he could pay the biggest price for that moment of madness by losing his shirt.

Robinson said: "He pays the ultimate fine for any footballer by missing games.

When you miss games and you see performances like that, it makes it more of a bitter pill to swallow."
