Robbie Willmott believes the addition of Craig McAllister to the Luton squad is what he and the club have been craving.
The winger returned to the Hatters’ side for his first start in seven league games in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Alfreton, where he won the penalty that allowed George Pilkington to slot home. A full debut was also handed to striker McAllister who signed on loan from Newport County last month and Willmott thinks the 31-year-old will be a good acquisition. “McAllister is what we’ve been missing, he’s a big front man and isn’t afraid to put his foot or head in,” said the former Cambridge United star. “It’s good for me being a wide man that now we’ve got someone that is six foot plus that I can target to put the ball on their head.” Willmott now hopes he’s worked his way back in manager Gary Brabin’s thoughts more permanently as he’s had enough of sitting on the bench. “It is frustrating,” he admitted, adding: “When I was at Cambridge and when I came here I was playing in every game, but if the gaffer thinks that it is time to change it, then it is time to change it. “I’ve just had to bide my time, work harder in training, keep the same attitude, keep grinding in training and hopefully he [Brabin] will start noticing the improvements.” Willmott is now eyeing a second start in a row at Kidderminster on Saturday in the third round of FA Trophy, after scoring two goals against the Harriers at Aggborough already this season. He said: “I’d like to get up there and play again as I’ve got quite a good record there, but as always it’s up to the manager.”
