Emanuel pre-season no-show spells end to Luton career

Hatters manager Richard Money has revealed that defender Lewis Emanuel is no longer a Hatter after he failed to report for pre-season training.

The left sided player, who signed a new contract in the summer of 2009, only made one appearance last season as persistent injury problems kept him on the sidelines.

The 26-year-old arrived at Kenilworth Road in 2006, joining from hometown club Bradford City. He was a regular first team player in his debut season but has been dogged by serious injuries for much of his time in Bedfordshire.

He was one of a handful of players who didn't make the trip to Hitchin Town as Luton's first team got their first taste of summer friendly action in a 5-1 win.

Asked when the defender might return to action, Money said: "Lewis Emanuel is no longer at the football club.
"We've given him the opportunity to come in for pre-season and he hasn't been seen, so that door is closed. He is not coming back."

New signing Dan Gleeson was absent, as was Claude Gnakpa, both of them suffering from niggles picked up on the club's pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Money said: "Claude rolled his ankle in Portugal on the last day and will miss this week but be available from Monday onwards.

"Gleeson stood on the ball in Portugal and slightly opened his groin and hopefully he'll be back on Monday as well."
