Sozzo strike cancelled out as Bedford draw

Bedford Town shared the spoils despite taking the lead against Oxford City.

Josh Sozzo opened the scoring on 23 minutes with his rebounded effort finding the back of the net.

Despite this, Oxford enjoyed more of the ball, but were unable to threaten on many occasions.

The home side then drew level on 64 minutes with Andy Bullard getting the touch. Oxford had more of the possession and chances, and with the City keeper only having to made one save, Bedford will feel fortunate that they came away with a point.

The Oxford team’s inability to convert possession into points could be put down to early season cobwebs, while Bedford, despite taking the lead, will be disappointed that they couldn’t make their lead tell, and will surely have to convert leads into wins if they are to improve on last year’s league finish.
