Bedford Town striker Drew Roberts has attracted the attention of Blue Square Bet Premier neighbours Luton Town.
Hatters assistant manager Alan Neilson revealed that the prolific Eagles hitman is a player that has been talked about in the corridors at Kenilworth Road.
The two clubs have a link after Dan Walker moved to the former Football League outfit in 2010 following a pre-season friendly, but Roberts has made himself a hot property this season, hitting 28 goals in all competitions.
He is currently perching comfortably at top of the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League goal charts despite Bedford sitting in the bottom half of the table.
Bedford's division rivals St Albans City are believed to covet Roberts while a scout from Championship club Reading was at The New Eyrie for the Eagles' 3-1 win over Evesham United earlier this month.
And with Luton on the look out for new talent, Neilson admitted that the forward's name is one that has been considered.
“He’s a player that has been mentioned,” said Neilson. “We have to look at everything like how old he is and where he’s been.
“Have people watched him, do they think he’s good enough to play in our team and will he improve the squad?
“Sometimes it’s the spin of a coin whether you make the right decision.”
The 28-year-old forward has scored twenty-four goals in twenty-three appearances for the Eagles in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division this term and Hatters assistant-manager Alan Neilson confirmed he is a player they’ve looked at.
