Snow may affect bin collections

SUBJECT to further snowfall, some waste collections may be postponed in the near future.

Rubbish and orange bin collections around Bedford have been taking place over the past two days and, dependent upon any more snowfall, crews will continue to collect from as many properties and locations as possible for the rest of the week.

Due to bad surface conditions, however, it may not be possible to access all roads safely.

In these instances, residents are being asked to leave their bins out for collection over the next few days, or as soon as possible.

Bedford Borough Council are also asking residents to allow extra time for their bins to be emptied, as crews aren’t able to move around as fast in such bad conditions.

Garden waste collections have been suspended this week and next week, and will start again from January 28. This is so crews can have extra time and staff to catch up with missed rubbish bin collections.

Bulky waste collections have new resumed, after their cancellation on Monday.
