UPDATE: Blaze at Great Barford home declared under control

A ROOF fire at a Great Barford house was declared under control by the fire service shortly after 9pm last night.

Eight fire fighters tackled the blaze using an aerial platform on the semi detached property, in the High Street, after emergency services were alerted at 6.15pm.

There were no casualties as the occupants got out safely when neighbours warned them of smoke coming from the roof.

Damage was mainly caused to the roof and there were reinspections of the home throughout the night but the incident has now been closed.

In total four fire engines were called to the scene as well as the Red Cross fire emergency vehicle.
