Traffic chaos after head on collision


AccidentMotorists were being diverted this evening after two cars were involved in a head on collision on the A421.
 
The collision took place at around 3pm this afternoon between the Lidlington turn and the Little Chef roundabout at Marston Moretaine.
 
An air ambulance attended the scene and three people were taken to hospital, one of which is in a serious condition.
 
Gary Sanderson, a spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Due to the nature of the calls received, ambulance crews from Biggleswade and two from Kempston stations attended the scene.
"An air ambulance was also scrambled to the incident.
"Three patients in total were conveyed to Bedford Southwing Hospital, one of which is in a serious condition.”
Gary added: “The paramedics worked extremely hard to treat and stabilise the casualties, they all did a good job.”
 
The road was still closed this evening while the vehicles were recovered.
