Stadium protest highlights greyhound deaths

Protesters against dog racing have been warning those going to a stadium of the general treatment of the animals.

A group from Bedfordshire Greyhound Action turned up at the Greyhound Stadium in Bedford Road, Henlow, last Saturday night.

Led by Kay Richards, the members held up signs, one of which said ‘trainer admits to murder’.

Miss Richards said this referred to an incident in 2009 when a trainer had four apparently healthy dogs put down by a vet.

She said that since November last year, the group had organised protests outside the track. It was after she had rescued her second greyhound.

She added: “We’re trying to reduce the revenue so that the practice will finish.

“Hundreds of dogs are slaughtered across the country every year.”
