Emergency services were called to Bedford Embankment just before 8am this morning after fishermen spotted a mobility scooter in the water.
The Bedfordshire Fire Service Rescue Boat has been searching the river after fears the owner of the scooter may have fallen in.
The fire service have now called off their search but police are continuing their investigations along the river and divers have been called in.
