Police seek witnesses to rape

Bedfordshire Police are seeking witnesses following the rape of a fourteen year old girl in Bedford on Saturday evening.

The 14-year-old victim was walking home alone along the pathway leading across Jubilee Park, Bedford towards Oak Road at about 11pm.

She was approached by a man she describes as a black male, possibly in his twenties, six foot tall, of muscular build, with goatee beard and with a diamond stud in his right earlobe. He was wearing a black NY cap, black Nike tracksuit top and black trousers.

He asked her where she was going and she replied that she was on her way home. He then forced her to have intercourse with him. She then managed to struggle free from him and ran off.

The victim is described as of mixed race with a dark complexion, five foot five inches tall with shoulder length curly hair.

DC Gemma Ebberson, investigating, said: “This is a terrible attack on a young girl. If anyone was in the Jubilee Park area on Saturday evening and saw this man we’d like to hear from them.

"Did anyone see this young girl crossing the park at around 11pm or after the attack. If anyone thinks they know this man they should contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information can contact DC Gemma Ebberson on 01582 473410, or text to 07786 200011 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
