Parks are top

Parks in Bedford and Kempston have again been recognised as amongst the best in the country by Keep Britain Tidy.

Park, Bedford Park, Priory Country Park and Harrold Odell Country Park have all retained their Green Flag status, the benchmark standard for nationally for parks and open spaces.

Hill Rise Nature Reserve in Bedford has achieved Green Pennant status, which is awarded to high quality community-run green spaces.

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said “I am delighted that the borough’s parks have retained their Green Flag status. This is testament to the efforts of everyone involved in maintaining Bedford’s parks and open spaces to such high standards.

“Clean, attractive green spaces are cherished by local communities and this announcement recognises the hard work of the parks ground staff, Council officers and volunteers who maintain the parks and open spaces throughout the borough.

“It is hoped that the public can keep enjoying what our parks have to offer and are able to continue appreciating the quality of Bedford’s open spaces. The awarding of the Green Flag highlights our commitment to make Bedford an even better place to live, work and visit.”
