No Mickey taking for brewery over Disney deal

Written byBY ADAM THOMPSON

BEDFORD’S own brewers Wells and Young’s has landed an international deal that will see their beer sold at Walt Disney World in Florida.

The firm’s Double Chocolate Stout will go on sale across the Walt Disney World resort having tasted success across the pond.

The beer which will be brewed at its Queens Park site will replace world renowed Guinness at the popular holiday destination.

The company has remained tightlipped on how much the deal is worth but the United States has grown to become the larget international market for Wells and Young which is thought to net it around $9 million.

Tim Sprake, who is the company’s international sales and agency director, said: “We are thrilled that our Double Chocolate Stout will now be available to millions of visitors in restaurants throughout the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

“Our flavoured beers are extremely popular in the States so listing this beer at one of the largest leisure resorts is a great achievement for Wells and Young’s.

“It is growing in population in the UK as it is brewed in the heart of Bedford.”
