Detectives are on the hunt for a man who indecently assaulted a woman who was walking home.
Last Thursday evening the victim was in St Mary’s Street, Bedford, at around 9.20pm when she noticed a man walking closely behind her.
She stopped outside the Park Inn hotel pretending to look for something in order to shake him off but he instead he followed her.
Again, she stopped outside the Kings Arms pub hoping he would walk past, but instead asked her for directions and then lunged towards her, pushing up against her and grabbing her buttocks.
The woman managed to push the offender away, he then ran off and she called the police.
The description of the person who grabbed her is: olive skinned, aged late 20’s, small built, quite short with black hair, wearing a black jacket and a white hooded top.
If anyone saw any part of this incident as they were walking or driving down St Mary’s Street, they should call Det Con Ben Dimmock on 01234 275114 or the Bedfordshire Police non-emergency number on 101.
A man was arrested a short while later and is currently on police bail with no charge.
