Nadine Dorries, the member for Mid-Bedfordshire, says those who want the Covanta plan for Rookery Pit axed need to make their feelings known.
The Tory MP will host a public meeting at Marston Vale next Saturday aimed at developing a co-ordinated strategy of public opposition.
She said: “I have already made the feelings of local residents known to the Secretary of State and discussed this with the PM who has said that
we need to look for more innovative ways of disposing of waste than incineration.
“Unfortunately, the IPC quango, which is to be abolished by the Government, has put the Covanta proposal through to the second stage of public consultation. This is because any applications that were submitted before the
General Election are to be completed by the IPC.
“We fought off the inappropriate eco town development and we will fight this too, however, it will take the effort of everyone who cares about Mid

Bedfordshire.”
She added: “The meeting will be well attended and action leaflets detailing an effective form of opposition will be provided and discussed.
“Under no circumstances must the IPC be able to say at the end of the public consultation process that there were supporters for this proposal,
which is what they said in each village hall they attended during the first round of consultation.
“It is important that as many people as possible who are prepared to do their bit in order to fight this off attend.”
The meeting, which will be attended by the Marston Moretaine Action Group, is at the Forest Centre at 10.30am.
