EX-CHIEF Whip Andrew Mitchell has denied claims made by Mid-Bedfordshire MP Nadine Dorries' daughters that their mum asked for permission to leave her constituency for a month.

During an interview with ITV's Daybreak on Monday, Jennie and Philippa Dorries told presenters Aled Jones and Lorraine Kelly that the MP had asked Mr Mitchell if she could take the month off but they were not sure if it was clear it was so she could compete in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!

Jennie told Daybreak: ‘She did ask for the month off. The Chief Whip gave her permission. She did all she had to do before she left. She made arrangements for someone to take her place on Remembrance Sunday.’

However late yesterday afternoon (Monday, November 19) the former Chief Whip spoke out claiming he had done no such thing.

A spokesman for Mr Mitchell said: "Andrew Mitchell was neither asked nor did he agree to Nadine Dorries going off to Australia for a month to take part in I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.'
