A youth club and music festival are among the schemes that have benefited from money seized from offenders across Bedfordshire as part of the Community Cashback iniative.
Last September, Bedfordshire on Sunday ran a competition on behalf of Bedfordshire Criminal Justice Board where readers could vote to choose community projects to be funded.
A year on and the selected projects are in full swing and have been a great success.
Bedfordshire received more than £100,000 from criminal assets distributed across the country.
Around 1,000 votes were received through the compeition and the ones that got the cash include:
* Felmersham & Radwell Youth Club (£1,500) - a new youth club for villagers in North Bedfordshire
* Play.live (£31,500) - Series of sports and community engagement sessions around Bedford borough culminating with a music festival
* Kingsway Recreation Ground (£34,000) - the grant turned what was a crime hotspot into new multi-use games area and youth shelter.
