Daniel Gibb, 25, of Ashburnham Road, Bedford, was travelling to work at around 5.15am on Friday morning when his motorbike was in collision with a minibus on the A507 road at the junction of New Road, Clifton.

Mr Gibb was working for the Territorial Support Group (TSG) in Finchley, London when he died.

Chief Superintendent Mick Johnson, head of the TSG, said: “I am extremely sad to hear about Daniel’s death.

“The loss of a valued colleague in such sudden, tragic circumstances is exacerbated by the fact that Daniel’s father, Ali, is a Sergeant also working at the same TSG base.

“Our thoughts and sympathy are with Daniel’s parents, brother and girlfriend.” The cause of Mr Gibb’s death has been listed as cerebral contusions and fracture of base of skull.

An inquest was opened on Friday and adjourned for a date to be arranged.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact PC Terry Nesbitt, in the Collision Investigation Unit, on 01234 842469, text to 07786 200011 or call Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
