Bedford College has recouped £600,000 of the money it feared was lost in the Icelandic Bank crash.
The College had £1.95m lodged with the Heritable Bank when it went bust 19 months ago.

However, apart from the money received so far it expects to receive an unspecified amount in July this year. A spokesman said: “To date it has received £0.6 million back and expect further payments with the next one scheduled for July 2010.
"Overall it expects to receive back about 80 per cent of the funds. At our year end in July 2009 the college decided to take a prudent view on the amount to be recovered, but even taking that into account the college showed a small operating surplus and remains one of the financially strongest colleges in the sector having been graded “outstanding” again in its latest external assessment last month.”
