Police hope that this image of a 26-year-old man who was found with serious head injuries in a lay-by after leaving Tescos in Cardington Road, Bedford, will help people come forward.

The young man of Grosvenor Street, Bedford, who has short light brown hair, was last seen leaving Tescos at 7.41pm on Saturday wearing a camouflage jacket over a white t-shirt with the Everlast logo across the chest and combat trousers (pictured). He had cling-film covering a recent tattoo on his arm.

At 7.55pm he was found by a passer-by in the lay-by near Tescos with severe head injuries. He was taken to Addenbrooks Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The police are aware that a number of people attended the scene and would like them to come forward to help them understand what happened. They also want to trace a green VW Golf with blacked out windows which stopped at the scene.

Detective Inspector Mark Tobutt, investigating said: “At present we are unsure of the cause of this man’s injuries and are seeking more information about what happened. Did you help him afterwards or see anyone or any vehicle leaving the scene. If anyone can shed any light on this we’d like to hear from them. We would also like to trace the green Golf and hear from anyone who might know of its whereabouts.”

Anyone with information can contact DI Mark Tobutt on 01234 845320, or text to 07786 200011 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
