Hundreds of people missed out on Usain Bolt’s second gold in the 2012 Games last night...because of a power-cut.

Around 600 homes in Riseley, Sharnbrook, Melchbourne and Newton Bromwold were affected when the electricity went off at 8.55pm - moments before the Jamaican legend won the 200 metre final.

Tom Henman, who lives in Riseley, tweeted:“Riseley has a power cut. First a flood and now this...We are Drama Central! #darkages."

400 households were back on by 2am and the final 200 were on again by 12.30pm on Friday.

She said unfortunately many of those affected have experienced similar problems in recent weeks due to theft of metal and also an underground cable fault.
