Being hit by a car doesn't stop Henry making it to meeting

Cllr Henry Vann

An unflustered councillor ignored the small matter of a collision with a car to attend a ‘very important council meeting’ despite being injured.

Henry Vann, 25, who represents De Parys Ward in Bedford was knocked down on the pedestrian crossing outside the town’s train station in Ashburnham Road on Wednesday evening.

Cllr Vann (pictured below) said a car being driven by a pensioner slowed down then suddenly accelerated which ended up with him on the bonnet in a freak accident.

However Cllr Vann dusted himself off with slight injuries to carry on to the full council meeting being held at Borough Hall.

Cllr Vann said: “I am fine. I was more hurt by Norwich City’s defeat to Sunderland to be honest.

“I was crossing the road and the car suddenly accelerated by accident. I rolled on the bonnet and I injured my hand, leg and head.

I made it to full council anyway as it was a very important meeting.

“The guy who hit me was almost in as much shock as I was.”
