Man attacks Bedford police station with hammer and machete

A MAN has been arrested for attacking a police station door with a hammer and a machete.

The offender used the weapons to smash the glass of a side door at Greyfriars Police Station, in Bedford, at around 1.10pm today (November 11).

He then ran off to the Midland Road area before he was arrested by unarmed officers.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

A message on Bedfordshire Police's Facebook page read: "Police have just arrested a man who damaged a side door at Greyfriars police station in Bedford by smashing the glass with a machete and a hammer at about 1.10pm today. The man then ran off into the Midland Road area.

"He was arrested by unarmed officers in Midland Road and is now at the police station.

"No-one has been injured, but if you're in the area, you might see a couple of PCSOs just letting people know what's happened."
