MP Nadine Dorries admits she wouldn’t have said her popular website blog was ‘70 per cent fiction’ if she had known what a fuss it would cause.

The member for Mid-Bedfordshire, pictured, made up some of its contents to ‘protect her family and staff’, it was revealed this week.

The revelations came in documents issued by the standards and privileges committee, which this week cleared Mrs Dorries of any wrongdoing relating to her Parliamentary expenses.

Defending her work of fantasy she claimed she was the focus of ‘unwanted and inappropriate attention’.

She told the watchdog: “My blog is 70 per cent fiction and 30 per cent fact.

“It is written as a tool to enable my constituents to know me better and to reassure them of my commitment to Mid-Bedfordshire.

“I rely heavily on poetic licence and frequently replace one place name/event/fact with another.” She said during the inquiry her front window had been broken and her daughter had been bullied.

The information came out as Mrs Dorries was cleared by Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, Sir John Lyon, who investigated a complaint from BNP’s Richard Barnbrook about her second home and that she made inappropriate claims.

Lyon’s report criticised Mrs Dorries’ blog, saying it ‘gave information to its readers, including Ms Dorries’ constituents and party supporters, which provided a misleading impression of her arrangements as an MP for the constituency’.

The MP was also rebuked by the committee for failing to keep the house authorities up-to-date with changes to the address of her main home in Gloucestershire after her marriage broke down.

Mrs Dorries told BoS: “I am absolutely delighted that, following a 15 month extensive inquiry into my use of Parliamentary expenses, I have been fully cleared.

“Much mischief is being made regarding my blog.

“Anyone reading my blog can obviously see it is a factual record, however, the point the commissioner was making, was that I concealed where I slept at night, giving the impression that I slept every night in the constituency.

Which I don’t, I spend weekend and recess nights with my family.

“The 70/30 was a throwaway comment and if I had known it was going to cause such a media flurry, not the fact that I was cleared, I probably wouldn’t have made it, especially as the figure should have been the other way round and that I said it after police advice following four separate occasions of inappropriate unwanted attention.”

When are we likely to get rid of Dorries as an MP ? Recently read about her breaking up a marriage and the lady was "supposed to be her best friend" She is certainly not a Christian.

This MP Dorries is nothing short of a menace to society and if this comment is not published will write to the editor. I was unfortuneate to witness her tell an outright fabrication and her blog is 70% fiction. many people feel that Cameron she be approached about this MPs standards ie this lates saga with a married man John Butler. There have been other romances too that she has told of via newspapers. I am shocked that you have not printed her most recent stupid remarks ie about learning to say NO. She is a laughing stock.

I have close friends in Liverpool who knew Dorries family well and they are so disgusted with Dorries always writing about her personal life and half the stories are NOT true that they intend to give Cameeron information that hopefully he will ask her to stand down. This latest saga about John Butler's wife Dorries should be ashamed she has more problems than Mrs Butler has, If this is not published will want to know why. It is time for Dorries to be exposed .

I am still "waiting" for Dorries to produce evidence that she reported Tim Ireland to the HP Police and Chief Officer of Beds ( who she once said should stand down !!) So I will now have to send an email to the Chief Of Police Beds and ask WHY Dorries can't produce this. Maybe the reference numbers where suddenly caught in a blast of strong wind and ended up too high for her to get minion in her office ( local handyman to retrieve ) Will continue to follow this through. Mr Cameron might have an answer !

Considering she uses a phrase like "protecting her family" she has never stopped wittering on about her daughters and like a Novelist of one daughter she wrote "her blonde hair blowing in the wind and people stopping to look at her" Her blog has been filled with tripe since 2005 and talk about "Tall Stories" now that I have actually met someone who knew her family when she lived in Liverpool I was dumb struck. Indeed her blog was 90% fiction and some truth. My Lyon's needs to look again at this MP and her "somewhere other homes" and some of her stories dating back from 2005 have been kept. Quite a laughing stock some of those blog stories. Think Mr Cameron should read them now and feel embarrassed about her past blogs.

Dorries later changed that "throwaway comment" once cleared to 30/70 see above her words. I want to know when she is going to produce TRUE EVIDENCE that Tim Ireland has given her unwanted and inappropiate attention. I want to see the Police give a "complaint file number" As for attention she has used her blog over the past 5 years to draw nothing but attention to herself and daughters\dogs. And never out of the newspapers. I am seriously now considering writing to Mr Cameron as she is an MP who should be asked to stand down.

She also claimed on a recent blogpost (http://blog.dorries.org/id-1712-2010_10_Sense_and_Sensibility.aspx) that "I would also like to state that every word written on [her] blog is absolutely true". So, by my reckoning, that means either a) She lied to the standards commissioner to justify her expenses cheating, or b) She's lying now. Which, in all fairness, could be part of the 70/30% of fiction she originally claimed her blog was. The more time that passes by since the commissioners report is released, the lower that percentage seems to get. The plot thickens...

Ms Dorries really has dug herself into an awful big hole. Her behaviour towards constituents has been disgraceful; at best patronising at worst libellous. Why does she run a blog where no-one has a right to reply to her comments? Why is she so afraid of engaging with people, supporters or opponents? I for one do not understand it. Ms Dorries must understand that if she uses her blog in this way then tells people that it is 70% fiction she must expect the media to react.
