ST GEORGE’S DAY GOLF TOURNAMENT
Bedford and County Golf Club Monday, April 23
The St George’s Day Charity is holding its annual golf tournament and festive ball in an effort to raise funds for a variety of charities.
Last year it raised £20,000 in donations with the single largest figure of £10,000 being awarded to mental health charity, MIND.
Since the St George’s Day events began in 1994, the charity has collected £355,000 by holding the tournament and ball each year and will continue, in connection with The Rotary Club of Bedford Park, to identify local charities and good causes worthy of receiving grants of £250, £500 and £1,000.
This year the main beneficiary of donations will be the Gamma Plus Appeal by Bedford Hospital which aims to raise £600,000 to support the recently installed Gamma Camera.
Golfing enthusiasts must reserve their places early, however, as there are only places for 36 teams available and 280 spots in total for the festive ball. Guests at the ball will be entertained by The Brigade of Guards Dance Band and the unmissable Ceremony of the Beef.
Although the tournament takes place on St George’s Day itself the ball will be held at The Park Inn, Bedford, on Saturday, April 21.
