WWE 12: An enjoyable update to the long running franchise
I used to be a big fan of WWE in the days of Stone Cold Steve Austin and others and spent a good two years playing Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain on PS2 almost ten years ago.
A lot has changed since then, with new additions both in terms of features and the superstars you can play as, though some familiar faces still remain, with former Superstar Brock Lesnar a playable character once more.
The gameplay itself is typical of any wrestling game, grappling and fighting your way to victory over opponents, with many different modes such as Steel Cage and Ladder matches.
The main storymode, is Road To Wrestlemania, where you take on the role of a WWE Superstar who wants to challenge the incumbent WWE Champion to a world title match at the company’s flagship event, Wrestlemania.

You are met with lots of twists in the storyline along the way and it really is good fun to play.
The customisation element is something I always liked when I used to play, being able to create your own superstar and working them up to the top of the WWE. It was limited to that when I used to be a big fan, but now you can create so much more.
You can now even design your own arenas and rings, choosing colours, lay outs and logos. I’m sure if you had the time on your hands you could even make an old style WCW or ECW ring using the customisation elements available to you.
Whilst I am not a fan of professional wrestling, I still found this game very enjoyable, especially when facing off in a match against a friend. If you are a fan of the franchise it is well worth getting.
