Sir - We were told that Building Schools for the Future money depended on closing Middle Schools – then a Government Minister told the truth.
We were told no school would close until permanent accommodation was ready – now the children from Woodside Middle School are going into temporary classrooms for at least four years.
Woodside Middle School has gone from OfSTED ‘Good’ to OfSTED ‘Not Satisfactory’ in three years.
That’s educational meltdown.
What were the council officers doing while Woodside crashed? If they did not know of the problems then they are incompetent, if they did know and did nothing then they are perfidious. In either case the Mayor should start an independent inquiry.

Or was pressure from the Mayor to force through closure of middle schools at any cost the officers’ overriding objective? Mr Hodgson, tell the truth, what are you really planning for the children of Bedford Borough?
