Sir - I read with interest the article on February 14 regarding the marking of dog excrement with marker flags at Priory Country Park. As Mr Denton commented, it was certainly very effective.
However, I couldn’t help but notice that Cllr Charles Royden described the person who marked the excrement in this way as “an over enthusiastic member of staff”.
And that he had stopped this method of drawing the attention of dog owners to the problem.
It was good to see that this member of staff used his/her initiative to draw attention to this frustrating problem in an effective and innovative way.
More than 100 dogs and their owners visit the park each day.
This results in about 40,000 deposits of excrement in a year.

Fortunately, most dog owners pick up but it only requires there to be a small proportion of inconsiderate and selfish dog owners for there to be a problem. If this was “over enthusiasm” let’s have more of it!
