forest of marston vale logoA Popular Bedfordshire park has come fifth in the top 10 list of the nation’s favourite green spaces at Keep Britain Tidy’s People’s Choice Awards.

Millennium Country Park in the Forest of Marston Vale has beaten off stiff competition to be named in the top 10 best green spaces in the country at this year’s prestigious People’s Choice Award.

The park came fifth out of a staggering 1,424 green spaces in the annual poll, organised by Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Plus Partnership, which gives out Green Flag status to the best open spaces in the country.

Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets, London came top while Warley Woods in the West Midlands came second and the University of Reading’s Whiteknights campus came third.

Green Flag Award scheme manager, Paul Todd, said: "With more than 7,000 votes for the People’s Choice Award, it is fantastic to see how much people value their green spaces, recognising the richness they bring to their lives.

“There is a great range of winning sites from university campuses to cemeteries, proving that it's not just traditional parks which provide places for people to relax and enjoy time out from the frantic pace of modern life.”
