Who do you turn to about heartache?
For a headache we call a Doctor, for toothache a Dentist but who do you turn to about heartache? Many couples, whether married or living together, struggle on in silence not wanting to face the problems in their relationship.
Relate is launching a national campaign to encourage couples to seek help before it is too late. Heart to Heart is a campaign being backed by some of the country’s leading agony aunts and uncles including the Daily Mail’s Bel Mooney.
Local Relate Chief Executive Angela Foll is promoting the campaign in Bedfordshire and Luton :
“Many couples find it hard to sit down together and talk about their problems, there are often so many distractions such as children and work. Last year our professional counsellors worked with nearly a thousand people, supporting them through their problems.
“Some people still think of us as just Marriage Guidance but you don’t have to be married or even a couple. We incorporate so many services now for the modern family. We can help young people suffering from depression or bullying, counsel whole families through divorce or bereavement as well as provide sex therapy guidance. We can help at every stage of life’s journey.”
Relate is the country’s largest provider of relationship support, via a network of 70 centres across the UK. Services include relationship counselling for individuals and couples; family counselling; counselling for children and young people; sex therapy and training.
