Welcome to our blog written by local hairdresser JANE THORNHILL.

Besides being a trained stylist with a wealth of experience in cutting, colouring and creating all the latest looks in fashion hairstyles, Jane and her team offer tanning treatments and nail care services that include gel nail rescue remedies and fabulous nail art.

One very important thing that Jane has learnt in her time as a professional hairdresser is that a visit to her salon should be more than just a hurried cut, blow dry and an inquiry about your holiday plans. All of the wash-stations in Jane’s salon incorporate massage chairs so having your hair washed is not just a straightforward shampoo and conditioning exercise – it’s a totally relaxing experience.

Over the coming weeks, Jane will be sharing tips and flagging up the latest salon techniques and styles exclusively for visitors to Bedfordshire on Sunday’s Health and Beauty website. Here’s an introduction to her blog from Jane herself…

“On leaving school (way back last century) I trained full-time for two years at Stevenage College. Since then, I've worked in salons in Stevenage, Letchworth, Bedford and Biggleswade, fitting part-time work and home hairdressing around raising my daughter and two sons.

Shortly after moving to Gamlingay, 14 years ago, I opened ‘The Cutting Mill" on Mill Street. Eight years ago my daughter Ami joined the business bringing with her fresh energy and direction. We gain inspiration from regularly attending short courses, hair shows and seasonal seminars. I’ve tried to bring the best of my experience together to create a good service with quality products, evolving skills and a passion for fashion!”
