Doing our bit for your bits
New men’s health clinic sessions are being held by Terrence Higgins Trust to encourage more men to come in and look after their sexual health and that of their partners.
“Testing for men is made really straightforward and only involves either a ‘pee in a pot’ or a blood sample being taken from your arm. We also give out free condoms and advice, on the other hand if you just want a quick chat about how best to look after your sexual health we can do that too. We have expereinced male and female staff available in the men’s sessions. We have our main clinic on the Broadway in Bedford so it’s really handy for popping in to our early vening after work sessions. Guys can ring to book an appointment or if you want to just drop in we currently run our men’s session on Wednesday evenings 6-8pm.” Said Sarah Cadwallader service manager.
The service offers both men’s and mixed sessions; THT clinics have experienced clinical staff who can talk to men and women of all ages to advise and prescribe based on individual needs. THT clinics open at different times throughout the day, 6 days a week including evenings to suit the varied needs of men and women of all ages in Bedfordshire.
The first known use of a condom goes back to the times of the ancient Egyptians when linen sheaths were used to help prevent disease. To this day, one belonging to King Tutankhamun is on display in the Cairo museum.
THT is delighted to say that the choice of materials and their effectiveness has increased dramatically in the intervening millenia! There’s now a range of sizes, shapes colours and flavours that can add a llittle extra fun as well as helping you to look after your health.
THT has been delivering family planning and sexual health services across Bedfordshire since 2009 and we see over 6,000 people every year in our clinics.
