I visit Borough Hall today and happen to pick up a leaflet about the council’s ‘waste core strategy preferred options consultation document’ (not the most exciting title in the world).
It asks if you’d ‘like to hear more’ and lists a number of exhibitions taking place… in June 2010. Can’t believe I missed them by, only 17 months.

On my way in this morning I see two police community support officers having a chat with a resident on his door-step. The conversation I overhear is somewhat unusual.
“Yes I know it keeps coming in but it’s not your cat to feed” explained one of the officers. It’s always cats the cause the most problems!
We get a press release from Bedford Borough Council today and are not surprised to see a picture of Dave modelling the authority’s latest bit of technology – a specially equipped quad bike to help with gritting over the winter. A search back in our photographic archive reveals a bit of a trend of the Mayor’s choice of vehicles. Perhaps we should nickname him ‘dangerous Dave’?
I am walking down Bedford High Street. Two young women are walking the other way and I cannot help hearing their conversation. One is saying, quite loudly: “I just don’t get the ***** people in this ******** place called Bedford. Everyone wants to ******* fight with me. I just don’t understand the stupid ***** . I just don’t ******* get it.”
I think I do but refrain from telling her.

Some of our staff know how to make a good impression. Our favourite resident PA attends a meeting at our Cambridge office today. On her entrance to one office she is told to ‘put them away’ and wondering what they mean she looks down only to discover that all of the buttons at the top of her dress have come undone. I don’t think they’ll be forgetting her any time soon!
