Central Beds’ deputy leader Richard Stay is on his way to The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy’s annual dinner tonight. The invitation (pictured) has been made out to ‘Lord Stay’, who confesses on his blog ‘my elevation to the peerage had passed me by. As the dinner progresses, I wonder how long it will take for institute members to realise Cllr Stay is in fact not a Lord.’ I give it half a second.

• A VISITOR to Bedford is delighted with the Bedfordbid website which gives excellent information, even including a postcode for Lurke Street car park, that you can enter into your sat-nav.

Unfortunately, she was not best pleased when it left her lost in a “quiet” street named Alexandra Road, about a mile away.

Happily, the site error has now been rectified.
