Thursday February 11

I speak to councillor Nicky Attenborough today to see how she is getting on with life as an Independent after being unceremoniously dumped out of the Conservative party.

Nicky tells me that she has appealed the decision on the grounds of no due process.

She then tells me that a hearing had been scheduled for February 23 but she didn’t hear about it until it was too late and had a full diary.

The reason that she didn’t get the letter in time was because the Tory group – which Nicky has been a member of for 30 years while living in the same house in Kempston – sent the letter to the wrong address.

And to think they could be the next Government…

  • WHILE on the subject of Tories, the Bedford Group last week raised over £200 for the Haiti Disaster Fund.

The money came from an auction of a book by local photographer, Darren Marsh, which includes 500 street portraits of random Bedford residents.

Bedford & Kempston Labour MP Patrick Hall is delighted with the publicity – he can be found about 20 pages in pictured at the foot of John Howard’s statue.

  • ONE of First Crapital (sic) Connect’s thousands of disaffected users tells us Daniel Williams, the company’s head of customer service, won the inaugural IRO Young Professional Award at the Eversholt Rail Business Awards, held at the London Hilton.

Let’s hope he didn’t rely on the train to get him there.
