Bill. I know that there is a wee bit of "journalistic license" allowed in some of your articles but may I make a few points about the car locking problems? Car remote key fobs tend to operate on Infra Red or UHF radio frequencies, IR is not jammed by electrical interference but UHF can be. There are two frequencies that are generally used, 418MHz and 433.920MHz. Cellular phone masts transmit in the region of 2000MHz and are therefore a long way from the key fobs. BUT in the photo you show are 3 aerials right on top of the mast, these are police Airwave, Tetra, aerials and these transmit around 390MHz. it is most likely that it was the Airwave transmitter that was blocking the receiver in the car. So in all likelihood it has nothing to do with cellular, apart from the aerials being on the same mast, or to do with power lines. Much more likely to be with the police comms' transmitter. Unfortunately you will almost certainly find that the transmitter is within its specification and so is the receiver in the car. I have no axe to grind with either side in this but do have a certain amount of experience in radio communications and interference. There is no quick and simple fix and no one is directly to blame. I wonder if it is possible to buy shares in Buckdales though as this problem is not likely to go away in a hurry.
